Hiking in Nuwara Eliya - a challenge worth accepting
Located in the heart of the tropical island called Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is also known as the hill capital of the country because of the mountain ranges that dominates the landscape. Nuwara Eliya is where locals rush off to when they need a break from the scorching heat that Sri Lanka is most famous for. Some tourists too fancy the cooler climatic conditions of Nuwara Eliya simply because it's cooler than most other parts of the island. Although this tear shaped island is quite small in comparison to its neighboring countries, the climatic variations and gorgeous landscapes makes Sri Lanka truly unique.
Trekking is one of the best ways to admire the natural beauty of any country. There's nothing like feeling the ridges of the rough ground on the worn out souls of those old trekking boots and feeling the chill that goes down your spine when a jungle cat growls to terrorize all in the vicinity. While Sri Lanka offers a host of trekking options which range from beginners tracks to advanced tracks that could even challenge the most seasoned hiker, Nuwara Eliya consist of a mixture of hills and plains where hikers will be pushed to their limits at times and will even be able to take a breather to enjoy the scenery of the location.
Trek through lush patches of jungle and cross over crystal clear fresh water streams where you might even be able to snatch a few fish and make a meal out of it. Within these remote corners of the hill capital you might also come across small local villagers who make a living through agriculture and farming. Witnessing the breathtaking sight from Worlds End and exploring the glorious Knuckles Mountain Range are activities that you simply cannot afford to miss.
